My commute this morning sucked...for some reason the jackass count was 3 fold and it took me forever to get in. However, driving home the other night made me realize...there are certainly worse commutes.

Also, and sorry to vent, but this dude is TIRED and its going to be a LONG day.

I'm a bit agressive in traffic sometimes. If somebody cuts me off, I pas them. No road rage, no brake-checking, but I do tend to gun it (on the interstate) when I get pissed. As immature and trivial as it sounds, when I drove an 80 I was worried that it wouldn't have enough top end power to drive in the manner I do. Is this ever an actual issue for you, or was I inventing shit in my head?

The 80 doesn't really love high speeds, which is actually part of the reason I bought it...to slow myself down and help myself to not be a jerk. for completeness, i will say I've seen 90 on it once or twice...it doesn't like it especially with the new gears. 80 is no big thing, and I do that all the time considering that is the speed limit on most of I15 here. This morning it was more a case of traffic waves, people jumping lanes left and right without signaling or looking and the usually asshat stuff like changing lanes in the intersection or muscling your way in.

I've always thought about how driving a slower car, especially an SUV, would change my driving style. My guess is, like you said, I'd need to ease up a bit. Then get my revenge in the next blizzard.

The forester was an enabler of douche driving, it had all the power and speed and agility to encourage me to do things that, when I reflected on, were probably poor choices. It wasn't the reason I sold it, but it was part of the reason I was okay with a much slower car.

If I'm heading somewhere with a definiter ETA in mind I tend to pass if I have an opportunity, regardless of whether or not I need to, then I know I don't have to worry about them dragging their ass. To quote you, As immature and trivial as it sounds.

Had this happen last night. Got caught behind an old guy doing 5-10 below the speed limit, for miles. Just, argh. We turned onto a road where I don't usually contemplate a pass, but this guy was absolutely crawling out of the turn, still doing 20 mph after 7-8 seconds. The road was clear for a full 1/2 mile ahead, so I gave it the beans and zipped by him.

He honked at me.

The single biggest problem for me when going from my 4Runner to something faster, I use the same amount of the throttle it takes the 4Runner to get to speed. It usually leads me to warp speed.

Do you use Waze? It's most useful when there are weird traffic events. I can relate to bad traffic. Most days I drive 10 miles down the 405 in 2nd gear the whole way. But this morning I saw an Evora in BRG with stripes, stuff like that makes it almost worth it.

I love my morning commute. There's nobody else on the road at 5:30am and I get to have the best parking spot because I'm the first one at work.
